As a companion to the 2012 McKnight SOLO, a screening of the acclaimed documentary film Solo: 1x2, will be shown. For two years, filmmaker Bob Hammel followed six dancers around the globe, observing the creation of six solo dances. Solo: 1X2 is a documentary film about the intense partnership between dancer and choreographer in all that it is: surprising, exhilarating, edgy, and life changing.
The film showing is followed by a panel discussion with dancers Laura Selle Virtucio, Colette Illarde, Abdo Sayegh; and filmmakers Caitlin Hammel and Michele Blanchard Hammel.
Interviewed by Mary Ellen Childs, Program Director, McKnight Artist Fellowship for Choreographers and Dancers.
"Solo: 1X2 is an intelligent, loving, informed and rich mix...you have to see this documentary...you have to." John Munger, Twin Cities Daily Planet
