Chartwells in Northrop at the University of Minnesota is seeking a full-time Assistant Director of Dining Services II to oversee and enhance our food and beverage operations. This role encompasses managing concessions during performances, daily operations of our on-site bistro and coffee shop, and coordinating all in-house catering services. The Assistant Director will lead a team of associates, focusing on talent development, client relationship management, and achieving financial objectives. Key responsibilities include collaborating with the chef and management team to create nutritious, high-quality food; implementing new culinary programs alongside marketing and culinary teams; maintaining excellent client relationships; and managing, training, and developing associates.
Candidates should have 1–3 years of food service supervisory or lead experience in settings such as restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, or healthcare. Strong leadership, communication, and financial acumen skills are essential, along with proficiency in MS Office products. An associate's degree is preferred. The position offers a salary range of $65,000 to $75,000, along with benefits such as paid parking, complimentary shift meals, and a safety shoe allowance. Work hours vary, including days, nights, weekdays, and weekends.

The Graphic Design Intern is a member of the Business Development & Customer Support team and supports a variety of design and other projects that support the mission of Northrop while giving the intern opportunities to learn and explore new skills. Job duties support Northrop’s programming of dance, music, comedy, and live podcast performances; films; and academic and engagement activities with goals of increasing visibility, deepening engagement, selling tickets, driving attendance, fundraising, and contributing to arts education. The Graphic Design Intern follows all Northrop and UMN brand and style guides, and upholds the mission, vision, and values of Northrop and the UMN at all times.
This is a part-time, ongoing, flexible, $15.25/hr UMN student position. The Intern works 10-20 hours per week, arranged around the student’s schedule between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, Monday–Friday during the academic year, and during summer and school breaks based on the needs of the department and student’s availability. This position requires some weekend and/or evening hours as needed, based on the schedule of Northrop’s events.

Student Usher/Events Assistant (UMN Students)

Northrop is looking for a customer service-oriented Usher/Event Assistant to represent Northrop to the public during a wide range of events, including large-scale concerts, dance programs, University events, and private events. This is an event-based position; a set number of hours per week cannot be offered. Applicant must be a University of Minnesota student carrying a minimum of six credits per semester whose schedule allows for at least three 4-hour shifts per week on any combination of weekdays, weeknights, and weekends—pay rate: $15.25/hr.
