The Summer Music Festival at Northrop brings its third concert of the summer this Friday, June 22, at 7:00 pm. This will be a night of Latin traditional music, brought to you by Michael Hauser & A Touch of Spain, Salsa del Soul, and DJ Miguel Vargas. Arrive early to get your hands on free Qdoba and beverages from Raising Cane’s (while supplies last), and prepare for a night of exotic music and dance.
Michael Hauser & A Touch of Spain:
This vibrant ensemble features exotic and authentic flamenco music and dance. With Michael Hauser, who is acclaimed to be one of the best flamenco guitarists in the Midwest, this performance will bring a glimpse of one of Spain’s most exciting musical traditions. Not to mention the dancers, who, with their flowing turns and dizzying footwork, will compliment and complete the flamenco tradition.
Here’s a performance at Aster cafe from 2011.
Salsa del Soul features nine of the Twin Cities’ best musicians of the Latin music scene. Aiming to perform a variety of dance music from Spanish-speaking countries of the Caribbean, Salsa del Soul offers an exciting and authentic blend of Latin music that will inspire you to take a chance and dance.
Here’s Salsa del Soul at Burnsville’s Art and All That Jazz Festival.
DJ Miguel Vargas from KFAI’s Radio Pocho creates a percussive mash-up between electric and Latin dance music. Artistically splicing and mixing popular melodic songs with an almost constant presence of traditional Latin rhythms, DJ Miguel Vargas creates an irresistible and exciting blend that will make you want to move!
To all dance and music enthusiasts, Latin or otherwise, this performance is a night for you.
