This Friday is the kick-off to the Northrop Summer Music Festival 2013!
Starting off this year’s Northrop Summer Music Festival will be Charanga Tropical with a spicy mix of Cuban beats and modern salsa music. The nine-piece ensemble features two singers, two percussionists, three violinists, a pianist, and a bassist. These musicians come from across the world including Asia, Europe, and, of course, South America. A wide variety you say? That’s right! Come watch it all come into play on Friday.
Charanga Tropical’s contagious rhythms won’t only make you tap your foot to the beat, it will make you want to stand up, grab a partner, and dance the night away from sunset until stars fill the night skies. City Pages describes Charanga Tropical as “a musical delight and a visual spectacle.” In addition to raving reviews, Charanga Tropical has been the recipient of numerous platinum recordings and Latin Grammy nominations.

Now… don’t miss their live performance on the Northrop Plaza! If you catch the concert this Friday, you’ll also have the pleasure of seeing DJ Fatty spin her zest in the mix of Latin-musical talent. Minneami Salsa is a dance group that will be performing during sets at Friday’s concert, keeping it hot with their fierce moves.
