World Saxophone Quartet Plays Jimi Hendrix

Past event
Mar 10, 2007

The venerable World Saxophone Quartet, acclaimed as “the most original and important group to emerge since Miles Davis, Ornette Coleman and John Coltrane redefined group improvisation in the late 1950s” (The New York Times), breathes new fire into the legacy of ‘60s rock icon Jimi Hendrix. The supercharged sextet with WSQ’s David Murray, Oliver Lake, Hamiet Bluiett and *Greg Osby; *Jamalaadeen Tacumba, electric bass; and *Lee Pearson, drums, approaches the Hendrix music with “WSQ’s usual reverence and sense of adventure.” (Jazz Times)
