VocalEssence Presents
WITNESS: Eyes Still on the Prize
Sun, Feb 23, 4:00 pm
American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreter
VocalEssence joins forces with a collective of Twin Cities-based artists—actors, dancers, storytellers, and musicians—to present songs and stories chronicling six living women who are at the heart of past and present Civil Rights work. National figures Ruby Bridges, Claudette Colvin, and Mari Copeny; and Minnesota heroes Reatha Clark King, Josie Johnson, and Rose McGee, whose journeys epitomize what it means to never give up will be celebrated. Become part of the journey to “keep your eyes on the prize and hold on.” Experience the weaving of stories that connect past struggles to the present pursuit of an equitable future for all. Lift your voice to commit to continue the legacy of those who fought for freedom, as we march towards racial justice.
VocalEssence WITNESS: Eyes Still on the Prize will feature the VocalEssence Chorus, elder singers from the VocalEssence Vintage Voices, diverse teenage choir VocalEssence Singers of This Age, and dance collective One Accord organized by Suzette Gilreath, with G. Phillip Shoultz, III, conducting.
