Voices Merging: A Splash of Summer Open Mic

Voices Merging is a University of Minnesota student group that promotes the urban arts in the Twin Cities. They strive to enrich learning, increase tolerance, inject learning, and bring fun to the lives of students and those living within the community. They do this through their most popular Open Mic Mondays. Open Mic has now become the largest amateur Open Mic within the Twin Cities, a major accomplishment especially by a volunteer-based, non-profit, student operated organization. In addition, Voice's Merging performs in Twin Cities area high schools as a way to introduce the urban arts to young adults, and bring a new, more involved student population to the University of Minnesota. They also visit Open Mic events on other higher learning campuses, host writing workshops, organize and execute M.C. battles and poetry slams, and create venues for graffiti/painting/sketch artists.
