“Watching these crack musicians rev up their complex, precision polyrhythms and fire up five-part horn harmonies is as thrilling as riding a horse that suddenly breaks into a gallop.” -Los Angeles Times

Sizzling salsa lives!  Leading the charge in its resurgence is this 13-member ensemble whose Across 110th Street recording won the 2005 Grammy for Best Salsa/Merengue Album. Formed in 2000 with the esteemed Oscar Hernández as music director, this sensational orchestra is currently making an international splash. Two trumpets, two trombones, and a baritone sax contribute the bracing brass sound with conga, bongo, and timbale players delivering the percussion. Add an upright bass and acoustic piano plus suave vocals, and the sum is Latin jazz/dance music at its energetic best.
