One of the true giants in jazz history, Rollins still “blows like a force of nature” in his sixth decade of tour de force majesty on the tenor saxophone. His ability to take the most unlikely of themes and make them meaningful through odd rhythmic patterns, long bursts of linear improvisation, and jocular touches perpetually amazes. In summer 2006 he releases Sonny Please on his own label and will play this concert with Clifton Anderson, trombone; Bobby Broom, guitar; Bob Cranshaw, bass; Kimati Dinizulu, percussion; and Kobie Watkins, drums.
