This panel discussion, moderated by UMN Professor of American Studies Elliott Powell, looks at modern culture and collections, through the lens of the film Sneakerheadz. It takes a close look at the development of sneaker culture, including how did sneakers become as prized as collectible art? From the shores of California to the congested streets of Tokyo, the film examines the cultural influence of sneaker collecting around the world, and delves into a subculture whose proud members don’t just want to admire art, they want to wear it.
