Northrop Inside Out Grand Reopening Gala

To kick off the Northrop Grand Reopening, student musicians will welcome guests into the Carlson Family Stage with a brass fanfare composed by University of Minnesota School of Music student, Spencer Brand.

The epitome of Romantic ballet, Giselle will be performed by American Ballet Theatre with live orchestra, a poignant tale of unrequited love, remorse, and forgiveness. The role of Giselle, often described as the Hamlet of the ballet world, requires an exquisite stylist with daring dramatic and technical skills. American Ballet Theatre's unrivalled roster of international ballet stars brings Giselle's mystery and ethereal beauty vividly to life in this universally acclaimed production.

American Ballet Theatre is recognized as one of the great dance companies in the world. Few ballet companies equal ABT for its combination of size, scope, and outreach. Recognized as a living national treasure since its founding in 1940, ABT annually tours the United States, performing for more than 600,000 people, and is the only major cultural institution to do so.

Audience members are invited to enjoy a complimentary dessert and champagne reception following the performance. Davina and The Vagabonds will perform inside Northrop Memorial Hall (their trumpet player, Daniel Eikmeier is a University alum) and the Northrop Inside Out After Dark dance party features DJ Jake Rudh in a heated tent connected to Northrop until midnight! Audience members are invited to explore the theater after the performance of American Ballet Theatre.
