Moonlight

Winner of the Academy Award for Best Picture in 2017 Moonlight is the story of Chiron, a young black man growing up in Miami’s Liberty City neighborhood. Director Barry Jenkins' profoundly moving portrayal of the moments, people, and unknowable forces that shape their lives not only earned the film awards and accolades but also inspired a moving dance tribute created by Robert Battle, artistic director of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, who also grew up in that same Florida neighborhood.
