The work of choreographer Matthew Bourne was last seen on the Northrop stage in Scottish Ballet’s performance of Highland Fling last spring. While Houston Ballet will offer us the beautiful classic form, Bourne’s groundbreaking reinterpretation of Swan Lake, featuring an all-male cast of swans, took the ballet world by storm at its 1995 Sadler’s Wells premiere. After collecting a wealth of international theater awards, including three Tonys, it is now firmly established as a modern day classic. This performance capture from 2010 features significant changes to the Act 3 plot from the 1995 original.
