Mao to Now

Join us for a not-to-be-missed evening sponsored by the Goldstein Museum of Design (GMD) and honoring designers and designs of China.  The event will feature three top Chinese fashion designers, the traditional Chinese Lion Dance, and a unique Ballet of the Dolls production created by Myron Johnson and Grant Whittaker exploring the changing face of Chinese fashion. In addition, enjoy tasty hors d'oeuvres and a live auction featuring experiences in dining, shopping, and other exciting activities.

Meet three of the designers from GMD's latest exhibition " Mao to Now:  Chinese Fashion from 1949 to the Present": Wu Haiyan, Liu Canming, and Wang Yiyang, responsible for some of the most imaginative streetwear and sophisticated fashion in today's increasingly global China. See images of their designs, featured in runway shows and exhibition around the world.  The evening's entertainment will begin with the traditional Lion Dance leading to the Ballet of the Dolls performance. Created especially for the evening, the dance will be a lively  interpretation of the three phases of the "Mao to Now" exhibition - pre-Revolutional China, Mao's influence, and the vibrant explosion of innovative designs in today's China.

This event will benefit GMD's educational programs and exhibition. GMD annually fosters design experiences for over 13,000 students and other visitors.
