Straight from the Rio Olympics Closing Ceremony to the Northrop stage! Passion, power, and Brazilian rhythms burst forth as Grupo Corpo takes the Northrop stage for our season opener. A favorite of local and international audiences alike, the company brings us two works that showcase their seductive appeal. Created in 2015 in celebration of their 40^th anniversary, Dança Sinfônica is a breathtaking homage to the wide range of Grupo Corpo’s repertoire. With a backdrop of more than a thousand photographs from the company’s storied past, this spirited piece floats on a symphonic score combining evocative original works with classical favorites. The dancers’ stunning physicality and dynamic ability are on full display as they defy the laws of gravity in Parabelo, a work that combines exuberant hip swaying and foot stomping, and an explosive, energetic finale.
