This Free North is a documentary produced by TPT (Twin Cities PBS) and the University of Minnesota to celebrate the University of Minnesota’s 50th Anniversary of the African American Studies program. This Free North explores achievements and obstacles in Black history on the University of Minnesota’s Twin Cities campus and reflects on the people and events that lead to the creation of the U program. This documentary examines the influences Black history has had over the years and still has today, both on campus and within the community.
This event is free and open to the public and will feature a reception with light appetizers, a cash bar and activities including a photo booth and more, followed by the film premiere and panel discussion.
Please be aware that photographs and footage will be taken at this event that may be used by the University of Minnesota and the University of Minnesota Alumni Association.
