Execution of Justice

Execution of Justice details the 1978 trial of Dan White for the assassination of San Francisco mayor George Moscone and Supervisor Harvey Milk - the first openly gay elected official in the United States. Based entirely on actual court transcripts and real-life interviews, the play chronicles the breakdown of justice in the courtroom as White is given a lighter sentence due to his "altered mental state," allegedly brought about by his copious consumption of junk food. Examining both the trial and the influence of contemporary morals on the American justice system, Execution of Justice brings into question whether justice was truly served or simply destroyed.
