2005 Grammy winner for Best Contemporary Jazz Album, theUnspeakable venture pairs the amazing innovation of guitarist-composer Bill Frisell and producer-turntablist Hal Willner, long-time “Saturday Night Live” music supervisor.  The performance features the core Unspeakable recording band: Tony Scherr on bass, Kenny Wollesen on drums, Jenny Scheinman on violin, Eyvind Kang on viola, Hank Roberts on cello, plus Hal Willner spinning LPs.  In concert, the group uses the recording only as a reference point, with the repertoire and approach to live performing taking on a fresh life of its own.
