African Night

African Night is an annual cultural showcase organized by the African Student Association of the University of Minnesota. Performers from across the continent celebrate their culture through dance, drumming, spoken word, music, fashion, and a variety of other arts. This year’s theme is “We are Kings and Queens.” The heart of this theme is to pay homage to our roots as descendants of numerous vast and diverse civilizations. Our ancestors were farmers and laborers, authors and artisans, educators and physicians, mathematicians and engineers, kings and queens. Our dedication to striving for excellence, especially in the context of the African Diaspora, is what makes us great. African Night: We are Kings and Queens will highlight our history, celebrate our present, and explore the possibilities of our future.
