In a unique blending of cultures and art forms, Savion Glover becomes one of the musicians when his expert tapping explodes into a live visual interpretation of both classical and jazz music. He launches into a new rhythmic world where hidden sights and sounds surprise and delight, exploring counterpoint, melody and phrasing in the music. A spontaneous final segment electrifies audiences!

About the Artist

Savion Glover has a long list of credentials including performer, choreographer, director, actor and dance company founder. His resume boasts the 1996 Drama Desk Award, the Outer Critics Circle Award (choreography), two Obie Awards and two Fred Astaire Awards for his choreography and performance in Broadway’s Bring in ‘Da Noise, Bring in ‘Da Funkas well as the 1996 Dance Magazine Choreographer of the Year Award. He has been featured in popular music videos, starred in Spike Lee’s feature film, “Bamboozled,” choreographed the award-winning Nike spots: “Free Style,”  and performed for President Clinton in “Savion Glover’s Stomp, Slide and Swing: In Performance at the White House” for PBS. In 2000, he toured the nation with “Footnotes: the Concert” featuring tap legends Jimmy Slyde, Buster Brown, and Diane Walker.

Taking tap to a whole new dimension, Savion Glover shines with a magnificent musical interaction of tap dance choreographed to classical music as well as jazz riffs and extrapolations.

Classical Savion is a one hour and fourty five minute show with two "pauses" between movements. There is no intermission.
