Northrop Student Advisory Committee!
The Northrop Student Advisory Committee (SAC) is an integral part of the curatorial planning and execution of the free outdoor summer concert series, Summer Music Festival at Northrop. The SAC will also help Northrop shape the vision of student engagement for the new Northrop, reopening in spring 2014, through avenues such as event programming and student outreach. We have filled our committee for the academic term of January through mid-May, but we will have openings for the Summer Term.
Duties include (but are not limited to):
Summer Term (May – early September):
-Assist with production
-Event planning and execution
-Promote and distribute printed materials
-Social Media, blogging
-Secure donations for raffles/contests, in addition to food vendor donations
-On-site presence at the events
-Solicit and record feedback through surveys
-Review SMFN at the end of the series, and make recommendations for following year
-Review proposal for student outreach in the new Northrop and make recommendations
-Brainstorm and recommend programs/approaches for student involvement in the New Northrop
Committee members will somewhat be able to choose the kinds of experience they want, although the Curatorial Manager may also assign other projects as needed.
Students are paid a stipend of $250 per term. Six spots are open for each term.
Time commitment: This can vary from anywhere between 5 – 10 hours per week, including duties outside of meetings. Normally meetings will be either bi-weekly or monthly, depending on need (aside from the first four weeks).
To apply: Please send your resume and a cover letter outlining any relevant experience, along with your area of interest for the committee to Melissa Wray, Student Curatorial Manager at email@example.com by April 8. The resume and cover letter are relatively informal, mainly to give an idea of who you are, and what sort of experience you would like to get out of being a committee member. In your cover letter, specify which term you are applying for.
Be involved in the arts!
The Northrop building is currently closed for its exciting revitalization and is scheduled to re-open in spring 2014. During this time we do not need ushers or other volunteers for the performances we are presenting in other venues. We will post information as soon as it is available about applying to usher in the newly revitalized Northrop.
