based on a play by Aeschylus

Presented by University Dance Theatre

Big Love, a comedy based on Aeschylus' The Suppliant Women, brings the ancient Greek story of 50 brides who are forced to marry 50 grooms into a modern perspective. When the brides flee and are pursued by their grooms, the women are forced to take action. Following the stories of three brides and their three grooms, Mee explores the varying attitudes toward societal norms, gender roles, and the institution of marriage. Touching on a wide spectrum of themes - from gender politics to power struggles - Big Love is a thrilling, highly physical exploration of the modern American values system and the forces that shape it. This production will contain nudity and adult themes.
