Give

Support art. Change lives.

Captivate. Engage. Inspire.

You are a vital part of the Northrop family, supporting our vision to ignite transformation through every world-class artist, inspiring speaker, and leading changemaker who steps onto our historic stage. Together we aspire to present cultural experiences that captivate hearts, engage minds, and foster connections with one another. Through community partnerships and artist engagement, we continue to make a lasting impact by supporting meaningful events, conversations, and performances.

Ragamala Dancer

You have the key to unlock meaningful opportunities for our Minnesota kids.

A growing body of research highlights the benefits for young people when they have access to arts experiences.  Arts engagement leads to higher academic outcomes, greater self-esteem, and compassion for others, and decreased occurrences of absenteeism, depression, and disciplinary infractions. The deep budget cuts affecting schools means that many  kids miss out on vital arts education. Your support enables us to provide transformative experiences through Northrop’s Arts Program for Youth.

Your contributions make it possible for kids to attend student matinee and educational arts programs, including:

  • Ragamala Dance Company: Students explore themes of "right action" through mesmerizing dance that connects them to rich narratives and emotions.
  • Marching Band: Join over 320 U students in a lively, engaging concert that brings the community together.
  • Witness: VocalEssence collaborates with actors, dancers, and musicians to present stories and songs from the Civil Rights Movement, linking historical struggles to our current pursuit of equity.
  • BalletMet: Students engage in dynamic movement and body awareness, experiencing the energy and cycles of nature through dance.

Your support opens the door to extraordinary and critically important experiences, providing free and low-cost tickets and busing for students. As the fiscal year comes to a close, we invite you to partner with us through your tax-deductible gift. Your contribution before year-end will make a tangible, immediate, and lasting impact.

Thank you for generously giving,
you are making a lasting impact for kids in our community.

You make this possible—and we value each and every way you contribute. As we look ahead into the new season, please partner with us through your tax-deductible gift.

Thank you for investing in your Northrop experience—sharing moments of inspiration, discovery, and joy!

Impact of arts in education

Image
Research shows that children who study the arts

demonstrate stronger overall academic performance, helping to produce creative thinkers that employers need in an increasingly complex workforce.

Image
K-12 students involved with the arts

show higher levels of success in math and reading skills, and additional skills are strengthened in communication and problem-solving abilities.

Image
Exposure to the arts help K-12 students

improve ACT/SAT test scores, perform higher on standardized tests, and achieve higher GPAs. These students are less likely to drop out of school and 3 times more likely to receive a bachelor's degree in higher education.

Image
Both state and federal laws require K-12 schools to provide arts education

for students to foster a more well-rounded education.

Northrop has been an integral center for the University of Minnesota and the Minnesota arts community for close to a century and we need your help to continue to do so. We hope you can be a champion and advocate for Northrop by sharing your experiences at Northrop with your friends, family, and community at large, as well as supporting our work financially when you can.  You can learn more about how to support Northrop here.

As Chair of the Northop Advisory Board, we are delighted to share that we are growing in our work to increase the impact of Northrop on the stage, in the schools, and in the community. If you are interested in learning more about being part of the Northrop Advisory Board, learn more here or contact Cynthia Betz, Director of Development, at betzx011@umn.edu.

Thanks again for joining us and don’t forget to say “Hi” and introduce yourself when you are attending a performance. I can’t wait to meet you!

Jeff Bieganek, Northrop Advisory Board Chair
