BRAVO !! ENCORE !!! What talent and choreography!

The variety of dances keep me mesmerized to the performers. Plus the staging, lighting and COSTUMES were superb!! I especially loved the final piece, SENSE Of COLORS with music by Johann Strauss. My favorite music is classical, but I did enjoy the music in the other 10 pieces. Such talent and physical strength were evident in the performers' grace, versatility and movements. At the end, I stood and clapped and clapped and BRAVO! was my utterance.
I wanted to see and experience more. . . and more... possibly a return engagement in a couple years would review my enthusiasm for the troupe, DANCE THEATRE SHANGHAI.

dance at Northrup(Orpheum)

I buy series tx, and never have I been as enthused about a production as this. What a joy to watch!

Loved this beautiful and

Loved this beautiful and varied dance, especially the gender neutral roles.

That was one of the most amazing
nights of dance in my many years of Northrup dance. Pleas, please have her back!!!!

Enjoyed thoroughly

I think this may have been among the best performances I've seen at the Northrup dance series. The music was well chosen to evoke the movement, the color and lighting were a feast for the eyes, and the dancers were incredible.

Some good, some bad and a lot of flash mobs. An interesting bit of alchemy, derivative in a mish-mash and, at times, jibber jobber kind of way. Morris, Tharp, Balanchine, opening ceremony of the Bejing summer games, Olympic gymnastics dance competition, Cirque du Soleil, Les Miserables marching scenes and high school dance line choreography, often times in the same pieces. These dancers are some of the best classical dancers I have seen in an long time, but we didn't get to see much classical movement. Though the fabric spinning was beautiful, it often obscured the grace and power undercover. In the final piece of the evening, Jin Xing allowed the audience a tiny peek at the breath-taking individual skills of the dancers. For once, they were each wearing a different color. Then came an incongruous curtain call with each dancer bowing separately. The audience could not tell one from another but for the bald man and the red-clad woman distinguishable by appearance rather than performance. A pervasive feeling of everyone being part of the masses seemed reflective of the Chinese culture. We were given only brief glimpses of individuals in spotlights during an evening of lots of groups moving in unison. If only we had been treated to more solos. If only the dancers had been allowed more freedom of self-expression. One can only guess how awesome they could be. A fascinating, complex evening.

little new here

On the whole the choreography was disappointingly derivative, though there were good moments, even good pieces -- the best, perhaps, were Steps, the homosexual duet, and Half Dream, which however became too obviously self-referential (the choreographer herself dreaming her company into existence and motion). There was little presented that hadn't been done before by other dancers in other works, and there was nothing whatsoever that would present a challenge to China's regime.

amazing

amazing performance! I am so excited seeing you in USA!! So pround of you!

Jin Xing

The lighting was stunning, the costumes spectacular, the choreography alternating between passionate and playful, the music selections were intriguing, Loved the music throughout - the bass notes on the piano was perfect. The dancers litheness, flexibility and unison work was nearly perfect.

Thank you for a great evening!
